All of our four program areas…

…champion inclusion and equity. It is a Placer Rep priority to seek new voices and meaningfully include underrepresented and underserved populations.


TALENT DEVELOPMENT

Bridging the gap from pre-professional training to professional opportunities

  • Performing Arts Preparatory Education (adults)
    • Lectures, seminars, workshops, classes, courses, individualized instruction and showcases
  • Interactive & Immersive Programs
    • ColLABoration:
      • An incubator program for cultural development, for individuals and groups, featuring support & collaboration of the humanities & the arts
      • Seek, find and support underrepresented voices in our community
    • Rifts in Time: Interactive Adventure Theater (on hiatus)
      • professional playwright/Game Master guides professional actors as they role play and improv their way through a night of adventure
      • includes a variety of opportunities for audience members to participate (on hiatus for 2023 – seeking new home venue, program sponsor)
  • New Works Showcase
    • New Program as of 2024! Professional local actors perform stage readings of new works by area writers. Audience, actors and theater professionals provide an opportunity for feedback and workshopping.
  • New Works Development Collaborative (planning)
    • This program includes a course that teaches individuals and groups to develop and produce new works
  • New Works Festival (planning)
    • Concentrated presentation and celebration of new works developed under the Placer Rep umbrella

PROFESSIONAL GROWTH

Continuing opportunities for professionals

  • Performing Arts Continuing Education for Professionals (adults)
    • Lectures, seminars, workshops, classes, courses, individualized instruction and performance/design/writing/directing opportunities
    • Studium-Practicum – Continuing Education for Placer Rep Company Members
    • Proposed: Professional Growth for Educators. Future provision of professional growth education for credentialed educators
  • Internship, Mentorship & Employment programs
    • Opportunities for professionals, educators and career-minded students to exercise their talents and grow their craft
      • The Writers’ Workshop (Masterclass #680 syllabus) for professional writers, actors, directors. Currently on hiatus as we seek a home venue.
  • Placer Repertory Theater Presents: Events & Productions
    • Theatrical & Digital productions and events (live & recorded). Opportunities for individual, organizational and community growth through experience.
    • Touring Programs: Locally developed works & artists tour regionally & nationally to attract out-of-county visitors while providing professional growth opportunities
    • Proposed (future): Equity Membership Candidate program. Future participation in Actors Equity Association’s candidate program, employing nonequity actors and stage managers for mentorship toward full AEA status.

COMMUNITY & ECONOMIC ENRICHMENT

Community Outreach, Education Outreach and programs that act as an economic engine for Placer County

  • Educational Outreach Program (K-12, college, adults)
    • Artists in the classrooms (or via Zoom)
      • Visiting Artist/Educator
      • Artists-in-Residence
    • Artists educate student audiences:
      • School Tours Program (K-12 and adult, K-12 is based in CA recommended reading list)
        • Theatrical Productions (designed for grades 4 through adult, audience size: 50-2000)
          • Includes post-show Q&As, free study guides, optional Workshops & Master Classes
        • Storytellers Theater (designed for k-3 classrooms/combined classes, audience size: 10-70 students)
      • Season Productions: Comp Tickets, Special Performances for students
    • VAPA Academy (pre-K through Grade 8)
      • An afterschool educational program in a classroom conceived and funded by Colfax Elementary School District from State education funds.

  • Outreach & Inclusivity

  • Community Partnership
    • Partnership with Placer County business, nonprofit, government and education entities
    • Sponsorship from local to national business, education, government and nonprofit entities, and individual donors, which allows Placer Rep to operate for the benefit of Placer County
    • Productions in PartnershipPartnerships with other entities to not only support arts & culture, but to grow audience & demand in Placer County and beyond

      Feature local makers: beers, bakeries, bean roasters, etc.

      Sell locally sourced souvenirs and gifts

      Placer Rep patronage of local companies for goods and services we need
    • Employ Locally
      Placer Rep seeks to develop and utilize a predominantly local talent pool, so money earned in Placer County is spent in Placer County.
    • Touring Program
      Locally developed works & artists tour regionally & nationally to attract out-of-county visitors back to Placer County

  • Performance Fund
    • Donations earmarked for PRAA allow Placer Rep to perform for communities or groups that do not have the financial means to host our productions
  • Scholarship Fund
    • Donations earmarked for PRAA allow Placer Rep to provide educational programming to groups or individuals who do not have the financial means to host or participate in our educational programs.
  • Playwrights Welcome program
    • One free ticket to Dramatist Guild of America members to any production.
  • Free Admittance
    • Each Placer Rep production offers one or more free admittance performances during the run of a production for economically challenged groups and individuals. Contact us for more information or complete and submit the form.
