STUDIUM-PRACTICUM 2023-2024
One of the hallmarks of any great performing arts company is its members’ cohesion of style and attack – that its members seem to breathe together in performance. This is no happy accident or theatrical serendipity. Such brilliance is achieved through thoughtful study and practical application.
Therefore, in 2023, Placer Repertory Theater, in the tradition of high-quality professional performing arts programs throughout the world, has established Studium-Practicum educational program for continuous professional growth & development. With curriculum modelled after world renowned MFA programs by drama schools such as Yale and RADA, Placer Rep Company Members and Affiliates attend two Studium-Practicum sessions per month.
In these sessions, core theatrical questions are cooperatively explored in a rich, sophisticated, and meaningful, facilitated process. Placer Rep’s future is defined through topical units delivered in one or more sessions offering exciting theatrical discovery, thoughtful discourse and the acquisition and practical application of solid stagecraft and artistic expression. In addition to individual and group-led units or sessions, topical experts are hired or invited to lead a unit or sessions within a unit.
Participation in Studium-Practicum 2023 is provided free of charge to company members and affiliates and is designed to lead to public performances for which artists/creatives/designers/technicians receive compensation. Company Members also enjoy the benefit of first consideration for all roles in Placer Repertory Theater’s theatrical season and are promoted in the regional media.
